Dear Parents/Guardians,

Welcome back to Odessa PS!  We hope that you have enjoyed a wonderful summer with your family and friends.  We are so pleased to be starting another school year and to be welcoming both new families and those who have been with us for a while.  The school looks great and is very much ready to be ‘lived in’ again. We are certain that our year is already off to a great start.

The students spent the first day getting familiar with their new classes, establishing routines and expectations, re-connecting with friends, and, of course, beginning the process of connecting to the curriculum they will be engaged with all year.  Later in the week, we will bring all of the students together for an assembly to begin our celebration of the year ahead.

As with every new school year, classroom assignments are tentative until actual enrolment numbers are confirmed towards mid September. I shared in June that the distribution of students across the grades posed some interesting challenges for creating classes ahead of time.  This has remained to be true and, as a result, we have made some changes prior to the year.  It is our hope that we will not have to re-organize classes in a couple of weeks but, unfortunately, it is still too soon to know.

You will be receiving a lot of important information from the school over the next few days. Please be sure to check your child’s backpack as some of the items will require immediate attention. Also, please take some time to read through the first few pages of the student agenda where you will find information about school procedures such as attendance, school hours, bussing, and dress code.
We will continue to post our news and events on the school web site along with other important information. You can access all of this information at You can also follow us on Twitter @OdessPS_LDSB.  Shortly, we will be striving to shift to a system where we can send school updates straight to your email address.  A letter will be coming home soon to introduce this process of communication.  If you have any questions or if we can help in any way, please do not hesitate to contact us.  Mrs. Tucker, Mrs. Duncan and I are so pleased to continue to be a part of the Odessa team.
