News From the Tiger’s Den - April 27th to May 1st

Dear Tiger Families,

We are welcoming Junk Yard Jonny to the school to perform this on Wednesday this week. This presentation has been generously sponsored by a grant from the Cataraqui-Kingston Rotary Club. It is our goal this Spring to provide a variety of different musical experiences for our students this Spring. The Limestone Learning Foundation has also invested in musical instruments for schools and we were lucky to acquire a class set of glockenspiels. Mr. Schneider's class has learned to play "Row Row Row Your Boat" and "Happy Birthday" on the Glockenspiels over the last few weeks. I have enjoyed hearing their progress!

There are over thirty Odessa Tigers who will be participating in the Bayridge Road Race on Tuesdsay. This dedicated group of athletes has been training at least three times a week since March Break. We are excited for them to have the opportunity to represent our school at the race this week. GO TIGERS GO!

Beginning the first of May, all of our Grade 1 and 2 students will be participating in the Odessa Marathon Club. The students will spend 15 minutes each day running or walking on our soccer field at the back of the school. Teachers will be tracking the number of kilometres students complete during this daily physical activity. Our hope is that some of the students will complete a half marathon over the course of the month. At the end of May, the older students on the Running Club will organize a fun "Mini Cub" run for the Grade 1 and 2 students and we will celebrate all of the kilometres that they have run over the month. We are looking forward to this new healthy active living initiative.
